The Making of "Audacity of Nope"

What is an Artistic Associate?

GayCo's Artistic Associates are the first line of artists that GayCo draws from for Sketch Revues, Touring Shows, Promotional Appearances, Film Projects and basically anything that needs performers. GayCo Artistic Associates include performers, technical and design artists who are either a.) happy to work with GayCo on a casual basis from time to time, between other projects or b.) very interested in working more closely with GayCo - perhaps someday joining the Ensemble.

The GayCo Ensemble are the folks who set the season, do all the dirty work (from balancing the books to posting this web announcement), and who produce local and touring productions.

What are the expectations of the Associates?

GayCo associates are expected to see GayCo productions throughout the year, to keep the ensemble apprised of your accomplishments, and to volunteer upon occasion (anything from ushering for a show to hosting a fundraiser.) In turn, GayCo will do their best to provide performance opportunities when appropriate, and professional development (workshops, involvement in projects, production roles).

In many ways, the role of an Artistic Associate is up to you: How involved do you want to get? How much work are you willing to do? Where does GayCo fit into your life as an artist? Some of our Associates are talented people who enjoy working with GayCo from time to time; some are ready to step up and become the next generation of artists who manage the company.

How do I become an ensemble member?

The ensemble is drawn from those Associates who show exceptional skill in performance and writing and who have demonstrated an interest and capacity for managing the organization on a deeper level. They will have taken on leadership roles in various GayCo projects, demonstrated a commitment to expanding their skills as an artist, and shown a level of projessionalism and accomplishment in their work outside GayCo. They are also ready to make GayCo a priority in their artistic life.
